AKUMU: JUNJI ITO

Akumu is a proposed exhibition event for the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA), centered on the haunting and iconic work of Japanese manga artist Junji Ito. Known for his visually shocking and psychologically intense illustrations, Ito’s art serves as the foundation for a striking visual identity throughout the event materials. This stationery set reimagines elements of his original illustrations into a cohesive and immersive design system. The set includes badges, a main invitation, save the date, RSVP card, and matching envelopes—each designed to capture the eerie, captivating atmosphere of Ito’s storytelling.
